Camp in the City 2024:Get Ready for an Outback Adventure
Presented by Hope House Detroit & Hope Community Church
Join us for a weekend of fun and excitement at Camp in the City, where we’ll transport you to the Australian Outback right in the heart of Detroit! This camp is for all ages, welcoming everyone from the Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood and beyond.

All Friday & Saturday activities will be held at Hope House, 840 Marlborough. The Sunday Service is outdoors at 452 Drexel St. Don’t miss out on this incredible outback experience right in your neighborhood!

1. Do I need to register in advance for Camp in the City? No prior registration is required. You will fill out a waiver when you arrive for the Saturday camp activities.
2. How much does Camp in the City cost? Camp in the City is FREE! Our heart is to make camp accessible to all and we fund camp fully through donations. If you would like to donate to cover the cost of your camp experience, you can do that HERE. It costs $40 per camper to provide all this food and fun!
3. How can I make a donation? Donations can be made on-site during the camp and online HERE. Every contribution helps us ensure a great experience for all attendees.
4. Can I volunteer to help with Camp in the City? Yes, we are looking for volunteers! If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact us at contact@hopehousedetroit.org
5. What activities are planned for Saturday? We have a variety of fun and engaging activities planned, including climbing, archery, water activities, a quicksand challenge, a petting farm, kangaroo crafts, art projects, and Bible learning.
6. What should I bring to Camp in the City? Please bring comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activities and a change of clothes if you plan to participate in the water activities. Sunscreen and a hat are also recommended.
7. What will the Sunday church service include? Our outdoor Sunday church service will include worship, a sermon, and baptisms. It is family-friendly and casual dress is welcome.
8. Where is the camp located? The camp activities on Saturday will be held at Hope House, 840 Marlborough. The Sunday church service will take place at Piper (Hansen) Park, 452 Drexel St.
9. What happens if it rains? If there is severe weather, we will do modified camp activities inside at Hope Community Church (14456 E Jefferson). Please check the Hope House Detroit Instagram or Facebook page for instructions based on weather. In the event of rain, the Outdoor Sunday Church Service will be moved to the Hope Community Church Sanctuary and will start at 12pm.
9. I’ll be out of town for Camp in the City. What else do you have happening for families? Hope House has programming throughout the summer and school year, click here for more information about our programs! Hope Community Church warmly invites you to join our worship service every Sunday at 10 AM at 14456 E Jefferson Ave. We start each service with a combined worship session for all adults and kids in the sanctuary. Afterward, we offer special, age-specific programming for children and teens aged 0-18, while adults can enjoy the sermon and connect with others.
